LOS ANGELES – Magazine-thin laptops, MP3 players and bite-size candy bars are just a few examples of good things that come in small packages.  Now, for the first time in North America, Mazda is introducing its own affordable, fun-sized creation – the 2011 MAZDA2.  A stylish, eco-friendly, fun-to-drive five-door hatchback, the MAZDA2 is Zoom-Zoom in its most concentrated form – compact and efficient, yet packed with style and substance.  It will launch into the North American market in late summer, 2010.

MAZDA2 is the latest in a line of stylish, insightful and hugely fun-to-drive small cars from Mazda, and will bring an all-new level of refinement to the segment, as MAZDA3 did for the compact C-Car market.  MAZDA2 is a car that only the engineers at Mazda could have created.  It was designed and engineered from scratch to be a pure Mazda, offering the sort of driving experience that could only come from the company that developed the timeless MX-5 two-seat roadster, and it brings a combination of athletic design and dynamic performance to the subcompact class that simply does not exist at this time.

Originally launched in 2007, the new MAZDA2 was first introduced in Europe, Japan and Australia. Its launch created a unique offering in the B-car (subcompact) segment, especially through its distinguished design and outstanding driving performance. Since then, it has been highly acclaimed throughout the world, winning 48 automotive awards, including “Car of the Year” accolades in many markets, including Japan, New Zealand, Chile, Bulgaria and Greece. Notably, the MAZDA2 was selected as the “2008 World Car of the Year” (WCOTY) at the 2008 New York International Auto Show and has established a distinguished position in the B-Car segment. To date, total global sales have reached approximately 370,000 units in the three years since its introduction, and MAZDA2 is now recognized as one of the global models which symbolizes the essence of the Mazda brand.

While developing the new MAZDA2, Mazda took a thorough look at global subcompact car trends and carefully worked to identify the truly beneficial values that could be infused into a global B-Car. As a result, the new MAZDA2 adds Mazda’s unique brand values such as exhilarating driving performance and eye-catching design to the segment without sacrificing the basic requirements for subcompact cars: superior fuel efficiency, high crash safety performance and ample passenger space. In fact, while other carmakers have increased the size of their small cars, Mazda’s first mission was to analyze and define the optimal size of a compact vehicle. This resulted in a very efficient body size for the new MAZDA2 without sacrificing attractive features that consumers desire.

A Design that Attracts Customers Worldwide

    * Dynamic Performance: With the MAZDA2, Mazda evolved the athleticism that is inherent to the Mazda design DNA in pursuit of bold and diverse expression of movement. The basic form of the new MAZDA2 is characterized by a combination of dynamic performance, sportiness and simplicity that leaves a strong visual impression. While competitors are producing compact cars with a focus on a boxy body form to prioritize functionality, Mazda shortened the body overhangs and trimmed the corners to the greatest extent possible as a way to provide a form that is compact and sporty, conveys a sense of stability and inspires confidence. By carefully creating a base form and then giving it energetic character lines befitting a B-car, Mazda created a design that is highly distinctive, but timeless.
    * Concentrated: Mazda pursued a concentrated, taut form for the body as a virtue in itself, not to simply reduce the car’s body size. This creative background was advantageous in efforts to achieve maximum dynamic performance within the new MAZDA2′s compact body. In other words, the MAZDA2 possesses the essence of Mazda’s spirit of compact, sporty dynamic performance – “Zoom-Zoom Concentrated.”
Exterior Design Theme: “Coordinated Movement”
In pursuit of a solid form and a richly expressive exterior design, Mazda established an exterior design theme of “coordinated movement”. In line with this theme, the design team combined the visual movements created by the car’s silhouette, its body lines, and the way in which patterns of light played on the body to create dynamic, multifaceted expressions not typically seen on a B-car. These expressions exude a powerful energy that makes the new MAZDA2 look as though it is moving while standing still. Key exterior design elements include: a sporty wedge shape that conveys a strong sense of forward motion; a deeply sculpted form in which the body is drawn inward fore and aft of the A-pillars; and distinctive character lines that extend from the front fender arches to the body shoulders.

Dynamic Performance Not Found on Competitors in the Segment
Mazda focused on realizing driver-oriented maneuverability and confidence-inspiring driving dynamics for a Zoom-Zoom driving experience that is unique in this segment. At the same time, Mazda maintained a development focus on delivering high cost-effectiveness in situations ranging from day-to-day driving to long excursions on a weekend. Specifically, Mazda worked to make the new MAZDA2 economical to own in terms of fuel costs through its excellent fuel economy and improved durability.

A Powertrain for Sporty Performance with Great Fuel Economy
The Zoom-Zoom driving experience that Mazda strives for has two key attributes: 1) a sense of linear acceleration and deceleration that responds crisply to how far the accelerator pedal is depressed, allowing the driver to control car speed as desired; and 2) a sense of liveliness  through immediate response to the accelerator for quick off-the-line acceleration and overtaking. The development team targeted a performance feel reflecting enhancement of both of these key attributes without adversely impacting on the MAZDA2′s superior fuel economy as a subcompact car.

Nimble Handling and a Stable Ride
The new MAZDA2 inherits a highly regarded suspension system, which has MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion-beam axle at the rear. With improved steering and braking systems, the resulting dynamic performance yields consistently responsive handling and a smooth, stable ride that draws much from the legendary MX-5.

Superior Quietness and Aerodynamics
In order to create more comfortable day-to-day driving, Mazda took various countermeasures to achieve a quiet cabin environment. Mazda also improved the coefficient of drag values to achieve better aerodynamics, contributing not only to the MAZDA2′s quietness, but also to a more sporty ride and fuel efficiency.

Harmony Between Sporty Driving Performance and Environmental and Safety Features
In order to form the best balance between lower fuel consumption, outstanding driving dynamics and top-level safety performance, the new MAZDA2 reflects the close attention paid to minimizing weight through its smaller body shell, optimization of the structure, extensive use of high-tensile steel in its body and many other weight-saving measures implemented throughout the car. Under this approach, Mazda made the best use of weight-saving know-how, similar to the “gram” strategy employed during the development of the MX-5 sports car. As a result, the MAZDA2 has achieved world-leading crash safety ratings (five stars in the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the highest possible result) without compromising driving performance and fuel economy. In line with the way B-cars are mainly used as day-to-day commuters, with a driver-oriented development philosophy, the MAZDA2 has achieved a level of drivability and nimbleness that enables easy maneuverability, even in small car-parking areas and other tight spaces.

More information on the 2011 MAZDA2 interior, specifications and pricing will be available at a later date.

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in the United States in 2010, Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers.  Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.

The 2012 Dodge Durango is expected to be a continuation of the all-new 2011 Durango. The new Durango is part of Chrysler's immense undertaking in releasing a whole new fleet, including: the recently revamped Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2011 Dodge Challenger, and the 2011 Chrysler 200 and 300 sedans and coupes/convertibles. The previous Durango, as well as its corporate sibling, the failed Chrysler Aspen, was discontinued in 2009. Now, Dodge is attempting to breathe new life into its SUV line.
Design

The new 2012 Durango is reportedly a brand new truck from bumper to bumper. The design boasts a much sleeker, aerodynamic form; gone is the oddly-shaped previous generation truck. The result is a much less bloated Durango. The new body is significantly leaner and muscular--and resembles the first Dodge Durango built in the 90's (which was a huge hit), except this one is modern and has some serious attitude. The tail is what's especially interesting. Look closely and you'll recognize a strong resemblance to its corporate cousin--the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The 2012 Dodge Durango, according to Chrysler, will be available in five trims: Express, Crew, CrewLux, R/T, and the flagship-product—the Citadel.
Powertrain and Suspension

Base Durangos get Chrysler’s now-familiar 3.6L Pentastar V6 that’s mated to a five-speed automatic—gas mileage is EPA-projected 16/24. V8 models, sporting the HEMI of course, will have a 5.7L variable-valve timed (VVT) powerhouse—with an EPA of 14/20 cty/hwy and just a hair less in the AWD version. The V6 is worthy of about 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque; the V8 pumps out a hardy 360 horses and 390 lb-ft’s of low-end torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard across the board and the sportier AWD system is optional on both V6 and V8 models for around $2,000 extra.
Equipment

The $29,000 base Express model comes with pretty standard fare for this class—a/c, CD stereo, cruise, cloth seats, and so forth. Many people, however, may want to step up to the much better appointed Crew version for a modest $2,500 more; it boasts niceties like front memory seats, backup camera, electronic tailgate, and remote start/stop functionality. Moving up to the CrewLux edition customers get standard features like heated leather seats with memory, an eight-inch touchscreen navigation system, and 20-inch chrome wheels.

The R/T edition—Dodge-talk for "sport"—is tuned for sporty driving and adds other features such as a unique cabin, 20-inch chrome wheels, sport-tuned suspension, sporty instrument cluster, and performance tires. The crème-de-la-crème Citadel is the almost fully-loaded model. It sports all of the features of the CrewLux plus upscale, perforated leather with stitching, H.I.D. headlights, a bold chrome grille, cross-path and blind-spot alert system.

Other options—and standard equipment on certain models—include a 7,400 lb. towing package, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, rear-seat TV/DVD system, adaptive cruise control (similar to the product found on Mercedes models), and moonroof.
Safety

There are plenty of standard safety measures across the board in the new Durango. Dodge claims there are a total of 45 of them to be exact. Nevertheless, there’s certainly no lack of airbags--with side-mounted, seat-mounted, curtain, and front airbags that flank the cabin. Additionally, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and proactive head restraints are standard. Optional equipment on all but the CrewLux and Citadel includes blind-spot monitoring, cross-path monitoring system, adaptive cruise, frontal collision warning system, and push-button/key-sensing functionality for the ignition system.
2012 Dodge Durango Summary

The 2012 Dodge Durango is rumored to drop the Durango name in favor of 'Magnum' when the SUV goes on sale. Whether it’s ‘Durango’ or ‘Magnum’, the SUV will compete against the following SUV’s: Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia/Chevy Traverse/Buick Enclave (GM clones), and Toyota Highlander.

Set to appear at the L.A. Auto Show this week, the Dodge Durango (or Magnum) is based heavily off Jeep’s award-winning Grand Cherokee. The latter, henceforth, is based off Mercedes’s ML-class. Chrysler and Daimler may have divorced years ago, but Chrysler still has contract rights to certain Mercedes technologies and mechanical implementations. The new Durango, errr Magnum, is expected to hit dealerships in late-2010 as a 2011-2012 model.

Cars of the Philippines refers to the automobile marketing and its evolution in the Philippines, as well as a comprehensive list of every car currently sold with a short description of the car's manufacturer history in the country.
The Philippines' automotive industry has been around since the Philippine-American occupation. With the introduction of American-made cars during that period and during the 1950s and 60s, a lot of American vehicles had scattered the roads since. But during the 1973 oil crisis, then-President Ferdinand Marcos advised Filipinos to buy smaller, more efficient 4-cylinder engine vehicles. Due to the declaration of Martial Law by Marcos, some vehicle manufacturers withdrew from the Philippine market; some of them, however, returned after Marcos was ousted in 1986. During the early 1990s, A lot of car makes returned or entered the Philippines, but during the Asian crisis, some makers withdrew due to the economic slump, and sales declined. Since the end of the crisis, automobile sales have increased since with new models. The country's love affair with the automobile is on the rise. It started during the 1960s when many Filipinos bought their first automobiles due to the economic growth at the time, but interest dwindled during Martial Law. After the return of civil governance, interest in cars rose and during the 1990s, magazines like Automotion started, as did several television shows about automobiles. In 2002, C!, another automotive magazine, was introduced, since Automotion closed down. Around 2004, Top Gear Philippines entered the car magazine market. Automobile exhibits are rampant, from mainstream to custom-built vehicles are displayed.
Honda's entry-level sedan serves as an affordable alternative to the larger Civic. Its direct competition consists of the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio and Suzuki SX4. The City is also a popular college car in the Philippines due to its low maintenance and thrifty fuel consumption..

I have reason to believe that the next BMW M3, M5 and M6 will be turbocharged. And while some BMW purists now might be lamenting the slow death of the naturally-aspirated BMW, realize that turbocharging is not only the wave of the future, but with turbochargers, you get more power out of less weight, thus leading to better handling characteristics. Now that is true BMW.

The X5M and X6M have been announced, and both of them have a juicy twin-turbo V8. The hopped up version of the X6 XDrive48i's engine throws down 555 horsepower and 501 lb-feet of torque. Both of those numbers are FAR ahead of the 500 horsepower and (seemingly paltry in comparison) 383 lb-feet of torque from the current M5's naturally-aspirated V10.

Which is why I have reason to believe that this exact same engine, is destined for the next BMW M5 and M6. It's far less expensive to pump up and turbocharge their oft-used 4.4-liter V8 than to put together a special V10 specifically for the M5 and M6. Turbochargers allow for both high power, MUCH higher torque, and better MPG than the alternative. Not to mention, take a look at the 0-60 times - the BMW M5 throws it down in a claimed 4.7 seconds. The X5M and X6M, porkers both, throw it down in 4.5 seconds, despite being almost 1,000 pounds heavier each than the M5 and M6.

Not to mention, the Cadillac CTS-V threw it down on the M5 for this generation, showing BMW up in a BIG BIG way, and BMW does not want to let the Corvette ZR1-engined monster-Lac have the last laugh.

    * 2013 BMW M3 and M4 Engine Specs: It will come with a 3.3 liter V6 with 440 horsepower « Automotive «
    * RENDERED: 2013 BMW X1M | WriterParty.com
The rendering below is of the all new 2013 BMW X1M, which hasn't quite left the rumormill yet, but you can file it under the very probable category, consid...
As for the next BMW M3? Compare the current M3's 420 horsepower to the M5's 500. Or the old M3's 340 horsepower to the previous M5's 400. Drop two cylinders, put it together, and it's reasonable to estimate that BMW will hike up the twin-turboed 3.0 I-6 from 300 horsepower to at least 430 (possibly over 450) horsepower and around 400 torque, thus putting BMW in a position to throw down against the Nissan GT-R performance-wise.

Are you against the idea of turbo M's? If so, then realize what BMW already has: Higher performance, better handling, better weight distribution, better MPG. And without having to spend millions on M-specific engine designs, BMW is free to throw its money towards other aspects of the M cars (suspension, brakes, etc), or to other BMW models.

Well, not that you care where BMW throws its money, but I personally enjoy keeping up with what they're doing next. You just want a kickass new M3, M5 and M6. And with turbos, that's exactly what you will get.

So to recap the estimated engine specs:

BMW M5 (and M6): 555 horsepower, 501 foot-lbs torque

BMW M3: 430-450 horsepower, 400-420 foot-lbs torque

Drool at the prospects and enjoy.
