Readers of the Latest Insight blog had the chance to leave their comments regarding the accessories for the 2010 Insight (USDM). Honda in return, discussed all the ideas internally and provided some answers, which you can read below.

Thank you very much for your great comments. We’ve been discussing them internally all week, and please know that we will take all of your ideas into consideration. Now let’s get down to some specifics.
Up-Size Wheels – Many of you have asked about larger wheels and tires. They look great, but replacing the low-rolling resistance tires—plus the added weight of the larger tires—could detract from your miles per gallon, defeating one of the chief design goals of the Insight. Please keep in mind also that different countries have different regulations, so you may be hearing about other options based on geography.
Rear Wing Spoiler – We have also had several requests for a rear wing spoiler. Rear wing spoilers can make the car look more aerodynamic, but they do not contribute much to actual efficiency. The design of the Insight also makes them difficult to mount. We will, however, offer other aerodynamic accessories, such as the front and rear underbody spoilers.
We selected only the accessories that will enhance—rather than compete with—the Insight goals of affordability and efficiency. Another thing to consider is the fact that all of our accessories are installed at the dealer by factory-trained technicians. Options like a moon roof or heated leather seats are major installations, best performed at the factory. These integrated accessories can add to the cost of the car, and once again, our goal here was to make the Insight hybrid technology affordable and within reach of as many drivers as possible.
As a reminder, Honda Genuine Accessories are manufactured and tested to the same exacting standards as every Honda vehicle. For full compatibility and optimum integration, Honda automobiles are pre-wired for Honda Electronic Systems Accessories.
